Since 1997, Freedom Pool & Spa has specialized in the service, renovation, and restoration of inground swimming pools throughout Southern Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Our work ranges from long-term pool care to comprehensive structural renovations, with a focus on durability, performance, and thoughtful design. Whether maintaining an existing pool or reimagining an outdoor environment, we approach every project with the same attention to detail and respect for craftsmanship.

Education and technical expertise are central to our practice. Our full-time staff maintains certifications through the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) and participates in ongoing training to remain current with evolving materials, equipment, and industry standards.

  • David Oakes

    President & Owner

    Dave started the company in 1995 with the goal of helping provide a superior level of service to customers across Connecticut. For 30 years, he has executed that goal, earning a reputation as an expert in his field. When working with Dave, you can always expect unmatched enthusiasm and professionalism.

    Dave has served on the board of Connecticut’s Chapter of the Pool & Spa Associate, CONSPA. He holds the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate from the PHTA and is a licensed SP1 and Contractor in the State of Connecticut.

    Outside of work, Dave is a dedicated father and future grandfather. He and his wife Nancy can be found poolside in the summer and on the slopes of Vermont in the winter.

  • Daniel Oakes

    VP, Operations Manager

    Dan has been involved in his family business for over 15 years. He worked as a summer technician through high school and college before pursuing a finance career in Boston. Dan now manages new business development and operations for the company.

    Dan is a graduate of Stonehill College where he played 4 years of football and majored in Business Management. Dan has completed the Certified Pool Builder (CBP) certification program though PHTA and Genesis and is a licensed Swimming Pool Builder in the state of Connecticut.

    Outside of work, Dan can be found with his wife, Brianna and their 2 kids.

  • Davy Mikos

    Service Manager

    Certifications:

    Certified Pool Operator

    Davy joined the company in 2015, as a summer service technician and currently manages the Service and Maintenance division of Freedom Pool & Spa. His responsibilities include management of our service teams and oversight of ongoing maintenance.

    Davy is a graduate of Springfield College where he was a 4-year member of the football team. He holds his Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate from the PHTA.

    Outside of work you can find Davy fishing, watching football, playing pickup basketball, and skiing.

  • Kyle Manguilli

    Construction Manager

    Kyle has been with Freedom Pool and Spa since 2013, starting as a summer service team member. He is now responsible for day-to-day operations on the company’s new construction and renovation projects.

    Kyle is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has previously worked in the Finance and Insurance industries.

  • Mike Masnato

    Service Technician

    Mike joined the company in Fall 2022 as a service technician. Mike’s responsibilities include management of weekly service and assisting in renovations.

    Mike is a graduate of Plymouth State University. Mike holds the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate from the PHTA.

    Outside of work you can find Mike watching sports and spending time with his friends and family.

  • Anthony Garibaldi

    Sr. Service Technician

    Anthony has been with the company since 2009, where he has handled every job from weekly service to management of full-scale renovations. Anthony currently manages our renovation and service teams.

    Anthony is a graduate of the University of Connecticut. He holds the Advanced Service Technician certification from the National Swimming Pool Foundation and the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) from the PHTA. In addition to his 10+ years with the company, Anthony is a full-time Firefighter in West Haven, CT.

    Outside of work, Anthony can be found spending time with his wife Farrah, and two kids. He is always up for a project around the house or helping a friend.

  • Jake Mikos

    Sr. Service Technician

    Certifications:

    Certified Pool Operator

    Jake has been with the company since 2011, starting as a summer service technician, and progressing into a key member of the renovation and service teams. In addition to his 10+ years with the company, Jake is a full-time Firefighter in Middletown, CT.

    Jake is a graduate of Stonehill College where he played 4 years of football and majored in Criminology. He holds his Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate from the PHTA.

    Outside of work, Jake can be found with his wife Marielle and their son.

  • Hunter Provencher

    Office Manager

    Hunter joined the team in 2024. He currently handles day-to-day office operations, including scheduling, invoicing, and customer service.

    Hunter brings experience as a residential Real Estate Agent, having worked with top teams on the Connecticut Shoreline. Hunter has a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and is currently pursuing his MBA.

    Matt joined the company in Spring 2025. Matt works on our service and maintenance team.
